First I’ve tried with the latest version available (v4 R405). When I run the ‘screen two’ installer, it fails at the end saying “Xibo Screen Two Setup ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified”. The problem is that it does not say what the error is, why it’s failing.
I’ve then tried the manual install suggested in the same page, but when I run the launcher to setup the options, nothing happens. No error, no screen, nothing.
I’ve tried then with a previous version (v4 R401). Here the installer finishes without any problems, but when I run the second launcher and add the information for it to connect to the server it immediately indicates “Display is active and ready to start.” In the CMS, no new display appears. If I run both instances, both load the same design/layout (and on the same screen). I did check and the second launcher is showing a different path for the local library.
I’ve tried v4 R404 but it does the same as v4 R401.
Any idea of what may be wrong?
Thank you,
Roberto
(PS: running in a Windows 11 machine with 8GB of RAM)
I have tested the multi player setup instructions and also had the same issue when installing the second player. Please can you try this method again, but this time you will need to use the msiexec method to install that screen two player. This guide explains how to do that.
Can you update this post to confirm if that solves your issue for installing screen two?
The issue with the installer ending prematurely has been reported to the developers, who are investigating the issue. The msiexec install method should be a suitable workaround for the time being while the issue is resolved.
Well, almost. For some reason, after installing and setting everything up, I restarted the computer and after the autologin only the player 2 started. After some tests, I saw that player 1 was crashing immediately after trying to start. Even running from command line gave me no messages. I’ve uninstalled the player 1, reinstalled it normally (without the msiexec procedure) and it worked. Now after restarting the computer both players are opening and working properly.
Fantastic news, thank you for returning to this post to confirm the issue is resolved. Hopefully you can now proceed with your tests and setup for your multi player installation.
