We have an old Xibo signage system here running 1.4.2 - I’d like to upgrade. I found this thread
which recommends going from 1.4 to 1.6 and then to 1.7.9 (and then presuambly I can go to 1.8). But in the old versions repository I can only find the clients for the 1.7 series, no cms for 1.7 and nothing for 1.6. Where can I find the downloads and instructions for doing this upgrade sequence?

It’s only the CMS you need to upgrade in that way (ie 1.4.2 -> 1.6.4 -> 1.7.9 -> 1.8.2). The Players can go straight from 1.4 to 1.8.

You should read all the release notes really between versions. All the release notes are in the manual:

Particurlary make sure you read the release notes for the .0 version in each series (ie 1.6.0 and 1.7.0) as they tend to contain the majority of the breaking changes.
Above all else, please ensure you have a good backup of the CMS database, library and settings.php before starting.
