Upgrade version 1.4.2. to 1.7.9 - help please

Hi!!

I will go start to do a upgrade on my cms 1.4.2. to 1.7.9. but xibo have many version after the 1.4.2…
Can you help, giving tips, please?
Is it really necessary? What kind of risk i have?don’t want broke nothing
What care should I take to not lose any information / layouts / contents? - Beyond backup
Do I need to upgrade on each client machine? Or is it just necessary to do it in cms?

You should be able to upgrade to 1.7.9 directly, although it could be safer to do it like this 1.4.2 -> 1.6 -> 1.7.9

As for windows player, you will need to update your player to 1.7.9 as well (directly from your current version).
