iCal feed issue - No Upcoming Events

I’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong but I have an ical feed published from a Microsoft shared calendar (a resource according to Microsoft) however no matter what I try the screen just displays “No upcoming events.” I can see there a number of events in the calendar, the feed requires no authentication, and the it works in other online testing tools, so I’m a little stumped. I’ve tried the tick box that says “Windows Format Calendar” yet it still doesn’t display.

I’m not sure if this is a pharsing issue as the URL does contain an @ symbol.

Other than that it just contains letters, numbers hyphons and full stops.

Any idea what I might be able to try to get this resolved?

Have I missed a step, do I need to add the feed URL into the server config somehow? We basically just want a small display to show if a room is in use, or will be in use soon.

Hi Natasha, I hope you can help. Looking at this issue into more depth it looks like it might be related to this issue:
CMS 3.2.2 - Calendar won’t show O365 ics events - Get Help - Xibo Community
however it doesn’t look like it is possible to edit the module to support ics files anymore. The only options for the calendar I can see are “Configure” which includes (Preview enabled? / Enabled? Default Duration and Cache Period) and “Clear Cache”.

I cant even see the option to verify modules.

Is there something I’m missing? I’m happy to send over the ics link, but I don’t want to post it in this thread for obvious reasons.

Hi, with our v4 release changes were made to the modules page so that you no longer have to verify all as that is now all handled for users. Can I just ask if you are using cloud or is this a self hosted install? If it is self hosted then take a look at the CMS logs to see if there is an issue with a proxy or certificates perhaps?

I am happy to test the URL you are using on my cloud instance if you want to send that via direct message.

We are self hosted, I’ve sent you over a couple of ics files we are having issues with.

thanks @natasha I got there eventually. Turns out there were some config issues with my PHP (despite the fact that xibo was using 8.1 for some reason xmds was reporting v7. I had an issue with not having configured PHP to use openssl (which caused other issues) and the maintenance tasks were not running, so no cache was downloading. all of these issues are now resolved, I’m just having problems getting zmq working with PHP 8.1 on windows server 2019 for IIS. I’ll get that sorted hopefully in the next few days. thanks again.

We are having a strange issue though where the weekly view is now showing and is just appearing as “undefined” at what ever time the display refreshes. - Maintainance tasks are all running ok,

Any help on this is appreciated.

The error message is saying that either the task has not run to populate it, or there is an error which means that cache cannot be populated. Check that none of the tasks are in a ‘bug’ state and are actually running. If they are, then something is preventing that data being obtained.
When the task runs, it should log any errors.

I can see in the client it still says XMDS location … xmds.php?v=7

We don’t have v7 installed anywhere anymore. The server “Logs” page shows the following for the last 30 minutes.

I’ve been trying to get these feeds working for almost three days now, and I just don’t understand what is going on. The maintenance script is running, XMR is also now working (although I’m getting some “cannot seal message” errors, despite having the openSSL cert installed and configured.

I can see data being added to the cache in the xibolibrary but for the lif of me cannot figure out why some of the data is being cached, and some isn’t. Any support/troubleshooting advice would be really appreciated.

The data is working in the preview as it should, but the display is stating that the cache is empty.

I think i’m getting somewhere. Is it possible to have the calendar event row display a specific bit of text if there is no current meeting? i.e. Show only the current event, and if there is no current event show "Room Available until {{next meeting time}}?

In the new version (v4.0.8) there doesnt seem to be a way (unless I have missed it) to show an an alternative message if a specific widget fails to load, or if there is no data to display. i.e. we have a couple of display where we would like to show a couple of live camera streams, but if one of the streams cannot connect, the display loads, and then times out and goes back to the splashscreen, we have another display where it is supposed to show the current meeting and the next meeting (pulled from an ical feed) but if there is no current meeting the display loads, and again times out. - it would be really helpful that if there is no current meeting we can display a message like Room Available and if there is a current meeting show something like Room in Use for {Description} pulled from the feed. Is this a possibility, or have I completely missed something?

I spent a few hours last week dealing with your problem but was unable to reproduce your issue or find the error in the code. If you have the opportunity to provide more log files, then by all means, please do.

For example, the log and config from the web server, cron jobs, the date of the files in the cache folder, logs from the tasks, or something similar.
