Expired Media Not Being Deleted From CMS

Issue

Hello all. We appear to be having an issue when it comes to media not being erased from the CMS one expired. The media is simply marked as expired, but is still in the media library. I have attached some screenshots below.

Also, to confirm, does expiry in this case mean deleted from the media library as well? Not just removed from any layouts/playlists? The text in the CMS says it removes it from the CMS completely, but the Xibo documentation says it only removes it from playlists/layouts with no mention of CMS.

Thanks for your reply! While it does clarify that media will be deleted from the CMS when the expiration date has passed, it doesn’t quite explain why in my case the media has not been deleted on expiry and still persists in the library.

Maybe @DanBW can clarify this ?

In settings there is option under “Defaults” tab:

Default ttl, in days, for records in purge_list table: [7]
Entries in purge_list table with expiry date older than specified ttl will be removed.

Default is set to 7 days it seems.

I’m aware of an issue in 4.2 where expired media items are not being deleted. This issue is ongoing and expected to be resolved in 4.3.1. Here is a link to the Github issue report so you can track its progress:

There is a bug where expired media cannot be deleted after being replaced. This …happens when a media item is set to expire before the regular maintenance task runs, is replaced, and the new media also expires before the task executes.. Steps to Reproduce: - Add a media item and set its expiration time to 2 minutes in the future (e.g., 11:32). - Ensure that the expiration occurs before the regular maintenance task runs (e.g., the task runs at 11:40). - Replace the media item and uncheck `Delete old version` while replacing. - Set an expiration time for the newly replaced media (e.g., 2 minutes), ensuring that it also expires before the regular maintenance task runs. - Wait for the replaced media to expire. - After the expiration time, attempt to delete the expired media. Expected Behaviour: The expired media should be deletable after its expiration time has passed. Workaround: Set `isEdited=0` and `editedMediaId = 0` in media table for the expired media to allow them to be processed and deleted correctly from the UI or processed by the Task.
