Can the Latest Intel Graphics Cards Handle 4K Content Smoothly with Xibo?

Hello Xibo Community,

I hope everyone is doing well! I’m currently exploring the possibility of upgrading our digital signage setup and have been particularly interested in Intel graphics cards. Given the rapid advancements in display technology and the increasing demand for higher resolution content, we are looking to implement 4K displays in our digital signage network. However, before making any purchasing decisions, I wanted to reach out to this knowledgeable community to gather some insights and experiences regarding the performance of Intel graphics cards with Xibo, specifically for handling 4K content.

I’ve been looking into Intel’s latest offerings, such as the Iris Xe graphics and the recently introduced Arc series. Both seem promising, but I am particularly interested in real-world performance rather than just specifications. Specifically, I’d like to know:

  1. Iris Xe Graphics:
  • Has anyone deployed Xibo on a system with Intel Iris Xe graphics?
  • How does it handle 4K video playback and complex transitions?
  • Are there any specific settings or optimizations required to get the best performance?
  1. Intel Arc Graphics:
  • Considering these are Intel’s entry into the dedicated graphics card market, how well do they integrate with Xibo?
  • Are there any known issues or limitations when using Intel Arc graphics for 4K content?
  • What kind of performance improvements, if any, can we expect over integrated graphics solutions?

Performance and Stability:

Performance is critical, but stability is equally important. In your experience, how stable are Intel’s latest graphics solutions when running Xibo for extended periods? Have you encountered any crashes, glitches, or other issues? If so, how did you resolve them?

Driver and Software Compatibility:

Given that driver support can make or break a hardware implementation, I’m curious about the state of Intel’s drivers for their latest graphics cards:

  • Are there frequent updates and improvements?
  • How responsive is Intel’s support for resolving any graphics-related issues that might affect Xibo?
  • Have there been any compatibility issues between Xibo and the latest Intel drivers?

I appreciate any insights, experiences, or recommendations you can provide. Upgrading our digital signage to 4K is a significant investment, and I want to ensure that we choose the best possible hardware to meet our needs. Intel’s latest graphics solutions seem promising, but real-world feedback is invaluable in making an informed decision. Thank you in advance for your help and expertise!

Looking forward to your responses and discussions!

not sure if this has been solved. we had 10x Intel NUC with 11th and 12th gen proc in the field for 4k output which we eventually replaced for Android DSCS9X.

Basically all movie clips are going through Handbrake to get the best output file. Also 4K clips. We have seen that any random 4K clip can stutter because of the used codec. Using Handbrake with Xibo given options, helps a lot.
