Bug XFA: Android R406 - Decoder init failed / video stops playing

Hi guys, hope you are well

Device: Amlogic S905X4 - Android 11

This problem that was seen in the R404 is now happening with the R406

The print shows exoplayer as the video engine that comes with XFA by default.

The video only starts playing again after restarting the device

Is there anything that me or Xibo can do about this?

Thank you!

@dan @natasha

Have you tried any of the suggestions from this doc?

Hi @natasha How are you?

It’s been a few days since I opened this topic:

I’ve done several tests to identify the problem, and apparently everything indicates that the problem is in the configuration to activate multiple decoders.

When this is ON, the player presents several media playback problems, black screen, ANR, etc.

(how it works)

Tomorrow I’ll conduct a test with 24 devices:

There will be 8 different configurations alternating between Surfaceview, Exoplayer or Android Media Player and Multiple codec.

I’ll put 03 devices with each configuration, totaling 24 test devices.

With this I’ll validate if my analysis about the “multiple codec” is correct.

Remember that I’m conducting tests with Android 11 devices with the Amlogic S905X4 processor

So if you have the same problem, I recommend that you carry out similar tests specific to your device.

At the end of the week I’ll bring you the test results.

thanks

During testing, I noticed some limitations of the Xibo app for video playback on Android.

The same media below does not play correctly on the R406 (regardless of the video configuration used, Surfaceview, Multiple codec, Exoplayer or Android media player).

I used VLC (Android) as a comparison.

The media also behaved the same way, until I disabled hardware acceleration in VLC Android App.

After that, the video started playing normally in VLC.

XFA - R406

VLC - Default Config

VLC - Disabled Hardware Acceleration:

@dan Is it possible to add this video configuration parameter (disable video hardware acceleration as in VLC) in the next version of XFA?
