Xibo Scheduling Precision

Hello All,
I’m curious about how precise scheduling in Xibo is. What I am hoping to do is create some layouts that play and stop at a precise time daily (such as 10:00 - 10:05). For my purposes, I’d need it to begin EXACTLY at 10:00 AM (plus or minus a few seconds). Given other layouts would be scheduled before and after that, I am curious about the expected behavior of Xibo. If my layout is the only thing scheduled during that period, would it immediately stop layouts playing before that at 10AM, even if they have not finished their time? And after that period, would other content immediately resume (cutting my video even if incomplete, which is my desired result)?

Xibo allows you to schedule events, with a higher priority, that will interrupt lower priority events.

For example, let’s say you want Event 1 to play from 9:00am until 5:00pm, but you want Event 2 to display from 10:00am until 10:20am. If you set Event 1 with priority number 1 and Event 2 with priority number 2, Event 2 will interrupt Event 1 at 10:00am and begin to display until 10:20am. When it is 10:20am, Event 2 will end and Event 1 will begin to display again.

If Event 2 has not finished its current media duration by 10:20am, it will be interrupted and the event will end at the specified time.

Xibo is capable of downloading events to the Player up to 48 hours in advance, ensuring it is ready to play at the scheduled time. Please note that there may be a few seconds while the layout loads.

I hope this answers your questions, if my example is not clear, I would recommend testing the performance on your own Xibo setup.

As long as the event that will interrupt the currently playing event, has a higher priority number set, it will perform as you would like.

Many Thanks.
