Xibo CMS installation on Server 2022

Hi,
I need some help on installing latest version of Xibo on a new 2022 Windows server without Docker, does anyone have a guide/instructions I can follow

Hey Chet,
I wrote up my install for Windows Server 2019 with the latest releases. Unfortunately, i’m unconvinced that it works properly as several of the modules don’t seem to work for me, but asking for help with a Windows install on here doesn’t generally illicit much response.

Hope this is some help for you though

I’d be really interested to know if your flipclock works (amongst other things)!!

Matt

Funny,
My flipclock doesn’t work either, but I ended up not raising this issue here.

I’ve already installed CMS’s on Windows server + IIS just like you, and this widget doesn’t work.

@mattgrimley What else doesn’t work for you? Here from what I got was just the flipclock

@dan can you say what could cause this?

Hey @pitoco02
Honestly, I had a vague sense that quite a lot wasn’t working and if i could troubleshoot one simple thing first, it might help me solve other things. I focused on the flip-clock as there’s not as much space for user error as the other modules and it fundamentally isn’t loading for me.

Part of my issue is that I’ve been using Xibo for many years, so i’m bringing the baggage of an existing layout, which to be fair, might not work for many different reasons outside the scope of Xibo community support.

In my initial attempts, the following aren’t working for me:

  • Flip Clock (as discussed. reported here: Flip Clock not working in 4.1.2 - Xibo Community
  • Weather not working (I think that this is coincidence as the weather provider seems to have discontinued the free version and now requires credit card registration). Hard to know.
  • iCal not working - This was loading a 365 calendar. The calendar works fine on my 3.3.7 deployment. Nothing visible, no obvious errors.
  • Embedded HTML not working. I was embedding a youtube channel. Again, works fine on 3.3.7.

In an attempt to avoid the chaos of multiple things, i focused on the first thing on my layout (and list) which was the Flip Clock and posted the report above.

Cheers for replying!
Matt

As a follow up, i noticed another post about ical (iCAl not working - #11 by mattgrimley), so i decided to ignore the flipclock and focus on this for a bit.

I’m actually getting some errors for this and now i’ve gone down a bit of a rabbit hole related to CA certificates, but not really had any success.

I’m now wondering if my issues are caused by CURL not using my proxy server. We’re an education site, so internet is filtered via a 3rd party proxy server. I’ve tried adding their SSL inspection certificate to the updated certificates packaged for CURL (as per Issues with weather (curl error 60) self signed cert - Get Help - Xibo Community), but no change.

Something fundamental like CURL would explain my numerous problems and some uncommon factor like proxy servers would support the idea that it works for most people.

I need to put it down for a bit now, but figured i’d update you on my musings.

I currently have the following issues in disucssion and they may well be related:

I replied to your flipclock post with a guess as to it perhaps being related to a SendFile directive not working (assets such as flipclock are copied into the library and served via sendfile).
