Error 2

Another Error is that the Sound of the Videos playing in the Xibo Client are sometimes played from the internal Speaker instead of the Speakers of the TV it’s connected to.

Error 3

Xibo Player is not on top. It jumps on top as soon as I connect to the Client via remote control.

Error 4

An “out of memory” Error Message. This happens very often.

Error 5

The Xibo Client only plays the sound of the video and the video shows something like an oscillogram. Maybe this has something to do with the “out of memory” thing?

Thanks for reading. I hope you can help me with this.

Best regards,

Timo

Hello Timo,

Could you tell me what CMS and client versions are you using?
Perhaps more about your PC spec as well?

Do you have any additional software installed on that PC that could interfere (like Afterburner for example)?

After you update your client to 1.7.6 (if you haven’t already) please do have a look at this topic: Object reference not set to an instance of a object

and specifically Dan’s reply there:

and after you download that .exe please check how it will work and we’ll deal with other issues if they will persist.

Hello Peter,

thanks for the fast reply.
We are using version 1.7.5 on both CMS and client.

The clients are running on HP 260 G1 Desktop-Mini-PCs with windows 7.

There is no additional software installed that I think could interfere.

I will update the client and try the exe.

We updated our clients and still have some problems.

The main problem is the one where some videos can’t be displayed correctly. The screen goes black and only shows soundwaves in green color. I couldn’t find anything in the event viewer or the xibo logs.

Anyone else with this problem and a solution maybe?

Best regards

Timo

Since it was quite some time since April, did you upgrade them to current version (1.7.8)?

So it definitely has some memory issues, in what format and size are these videos?

Please also make sure you have all drivers, .net framework etc up to date

Yes, we’re using Version 1.7.8.

The format of videos is mp4, the biggest has 335mb.

Drivers are up to date.

It’s not like the videos aren’t working from the beginning. They stop working randomly, without any error. They just switch to black screen with green sound waves over night.

Any idea?

I’ve seen this where codec packs such as K-Lite have been installed, and the actual codecs crash out, leaving Windows Media Player control with no way to decode the video.

There are no additional codec packs installed, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I think I’ll try to replace the client having this problem with a new one, to check if it’s a problem with the hardware. Do you have any other idead what the problem could be?

My next suggestion would be that it’s hardware related. Please run a full memory test (with memtes86) and perhaps something like prime95 on torture test mode for 24 hours or so and see if that brings up any problems.

The other day I found out, that this isn’t the only display with that error, there are a few more. Seems like the branches just don’t think it’s necessary to tell us…

So I don’t think this problem is hardware related. I’m slowly running out of ideas…

Another question: The download window start/end seems not to be working correctly. I tried it with a test display and set it to 09:00 11:00 but as soon as I started the display at around 08:00 it started downloading new content. Did I miss something?

The Player will need to download the updated download window settings at register, before it will know you have set that setting.

You can check it’s been picked up on the Player status screen above the Required Files window.
