Installation : Custom server
Server : Ubuntu 22.04.5
PHP Version : 8.2.30
Database : MariaDB

Player : Windows
Version : xibo-client-v4-R406.3-win32-x86

XMR Problem

When I start the player I cannot get a screenshot when I press the button. I have to wait the polling. That’s the beginning of my problem.

I checked the XMR settings, and everything looks right. But the player still connects to tcp instead of ws. I see that XMR is listening on the ws port on the server.

Notification widget / caching problem

Then I have a layout with the notification widget. I made a notification that I already deleted. But the notification is still showing on the widget.

What I did try to troubleshoot:

• Close the player and remove the data in de libray folder on the player
• Tried to clear the OPCache by restarting PHP
• Manually deleted the html files in library\widget directory
• Checkout the layout en publisch it again

Nothing works, I still have the old notification texts in the widgets.

Wat I already checked

• I checked on not installed php extensions, everything is installed
• I checked the logfiles and the logbook, no problems
• I checked the player on problems, nothing to see

I noticed that the status screen (CTRL+I) is closed in 1 second, cannot change it.
In the older players it remains open.

Also when I restart Xibo Player software manually the rss feed is not running and shows the no data availble message. After waiting to refresh or restart the player for the second time the layout runs like it should be, but not the notification widget.

• I checked and debugged the XMR settings and ports
I see no message in debugtext that I requested a screenshot though
• I checked the CronTask, works right.

And I also noticed that when I want to add a overwrite for let’s say the ws address, and I click on the save button, it is not saved. But I see no error in the logs. Also when I use the report a error function in Xibo.

I also noticed that when I add a image the scaling function is not working. Even when I add a image that had the exact size as the space it is viewed in. It still views to large.

What’s the problem here?

Oke, i have some updates:

  1. XMR is working now, I compiled the newest version via Github and now it’s working
  2. Image sizing on the players

Image sizing is still a big problem, the first image is too big, while the second displays right.
It are the same size images and the setting is fit for both. I also had in on version 3. Are this
problems with the Windows Player and is it better to use the Linux Player then?

  1. Settings overwrite at display settings are still not saved

And I updatet my server to Ubuntu 24.04, newest version.

And notificationwiget still not working, learned that this widget is working badly, so trying another option to show a notification on the displays.
