Video not playing smoothly [SOLVED]

Dear community,

I got a Ubuntu 16.04LTS version and a couple of windows 10 players to try the Xibo 1.8.9 expirience. One thing I noticed is that our video, mp4 file, does not play smoothly using the Xibo player. It is very jiterish and th eplayer clearly has issues playing it.

But when playing on the same device using a VLC 3.0.3 player it does play smoothly.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks
Kristof

Windows player uses Windows Media Player to play videos. we’d expect the playback to be the same in that as it is in Xibo.

It’s possible that WMP is having problems with encoding of the video or bitrate etc

Could you show us details of the video and specification of your PC please?

You could also open Windows Task Manager and see what the CPU/GPU/Memory usage like when it plays the video in Xibo.

Dear Peter,

Had a look at it yesterday evening and noticed that the correct codec’s weren’t loaded by WMP. So I removed them, reïnstalled them and the problem disappeared by itself.

But to answer your questions though:

  • CPU usage was about 30%

Cheers

Kristof
