Upgrading Cloud CMS from 1.8.13 to 2.2.1

We have had Xibo for some time now and looking at some of the newer features available it seems a good time to update.
So what I am asking is there a cost for this update?
What’s the update time?
Will the Windows players need updating or will older versions work with the new CMS?

Thanks for your message. Xibo CMS is open source and so it does not cost to upgrade for yourself. How you upgrade will depend on the method you used to install your CMS, Docker based or Custom.

Here are the links to the Upgrade guides for Xibo, as well as a link to the Blog page for 2.2.1 which is where you will find the files you require for the upgrade:

Please make sure to make a backup of your Database and Library before proceeding with the upgrade, just in case you encounter any issues.

I noticed in your Title that you mention it’s a Cloud CMS. Is this on your own VPS or are you referring to the Xibo Cloud hosted CMS instances that we offer?

If your CMS is hosted with Xibo, upgrading is even easier. Simply log into your Xibo Portal Account and click the below link:

https://app.xibo.org.uk/my-products/cloud

Next click on your CMS instance and choose Request Upgrade. You can now choose 2.2.1 and Save to confirm. The rest will be taken care of for you.

I would also recommend upgrading your Players to the Latest versions if you decide to upgrade to 2.2.1, older Players will not have the functionality for the new Widgets and features added for Version 2.Below is a link to the Xibo for Windows Page, which always provides the most recent Player MSI:

If you are upgrading from an older version of a Player to a newer revision, you can copy the MSI onto your PC and click to start. You will not need to uninstall the previous version, it will automatically upgrade and retain the credentials for contacting your CMS.

Hope the above information helps, all the best with the upgrade.

Many Thanks.
