I’m tasked to create a synchronized overlay, which appears on multiple screens exactly at the same time.
Is this possible with the current CMS and players?
The time of the overlay should also be sometimes less than a minute (can’t find a way to do overlay with
less duration).
Thank you for your message. It is not currently possible to synchronise content across separate Players, my apologies for any inconvenience.
It is also not currently possible to set a Layout to show for a shorter interval than 1 minute, as this is the smallest unit of time that the Scheduler will allow you to set.
Synchronised content is a feature that has been requested by the community in the Features section of this Forum. I do not have any information however on if or when such a feature would be developed for the Xibo Players. I will post a further reply if I receive any more information from the Development team about this.
Regarding Events shorter than 1 minute, I may have overlooked it but I did not see a feature request for this. I remember responding to users in the past about this but I suspect it is not planned for a future release. Just in case, I have contacted the Development team and asked for a response to your question. Once again I’ll let you know once I hear back from them.
I have an update on the features we were discussing:
Synchronisation of Displays:
There are currently no plans to support synchronisation except in very specific commercial circumstances, and only after exhausting all options. My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Events shorter than 1 minute:
I have learnt something new about this, it would seem that you can already create Events that are shorter than 1 minute in length. First go to the Settings option in your CMS and choose the Regional tab. Make sure the date Format includes H:i:s to allow seconds. now you should find that you can create an Event with From and To dates that allow you to not only schedule to the second but therefore create Events that are seconds in duration as opposed to minutes@
The above example would therefore start the Event 15 seconds after 00:15 and end at 45 seconds after 00:15, an Event 30 seconds in length.
I hope all of the above information is helpful.
Many Thanks.
To clarify, adding a : after the minutes will allow you to specify the seconds, which you can then of course use to create an event shorter than one minute.
