Hi, I want to use a RSS feed with images, so therefore I use the RSS Ticker static template ‘Image overlaid with the title’ in Xibo CMS 4.1.2 with the RSS Feed Xibo Media RSS Test Feed . The title displays fine, but no enclosure image.
I know that more people have this problem, but what is the best way to use a RSS Ticker with images? Should I use a dataset to display the images and if so, is there an example I can use?
BTW, Images are display fine in the preview, but not in the Window Client 4R403.1
Same issue here.
This solution might work… but i’d need some more help in where to find or how to create a template.
This part of my problem was solved by adding a cron job with the XTR - Routine Tasks. See: Xibo on a Web server | Xibo Digital Signage
Thx! It took me a while to understand what was needed, but in the end it worked!
(recap: you need to schedule a task. in my case i had to use Plesk to create it. Run xtr.php from there as described in link above by Digin. You see all tasks run in your xibo tasks after that. Also image processing.)
Update…
So I was very happy to get the cronjob running (cloud88 plex mariadb) and see the images appear in the RSS ticker…
However… this joy was for a short time only… Still the RSS ticker images don’t show automatically, and the RSS ticker does not update the feed (so old news showing when newer is available)
Have you figured this issue out completely? have any advise? Do you maybe know if there is a way to get a more direct configuration support (phone / chat)?
Maybe not the right way to use this platform, but help would be appreciated.
Thx in advanced RR
Same here, sometimes the RSS feed retreived the new information and when it is not retreiving then the ’ No data message’ will be displayed. No solution yet. Very annoying.
same issue i have posted here but no solution. as usual, all new versions of xibo comes with too many issues. i locked myself to v2.3.17 and now i want to see whats new in xibo…v4.0.x all the way to v4.1.2 has lots off issues…the backend cms looks too fancy and what we really need doesnt work or requires too many clicking to get to the finish line.
Fatal Error - sorry this shouldn’t happen.
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo for cms-db failed: Name or service not known
using the built in MYSQL… when i use an external or remote mysql, i can login fine but RSS feeds dont show in player at all…no text no feed image… not even in the preview…until i convert the widget into a playlist…i imported the layout / template from my v2.3.17 CMS…when i convert the widget to a playlist, then i can see the RSS feed text show up, without the assigned image…after i publish the layout, the play plays other widgets which are images …then RSS FEED BOX remains blank…i tried v3.x.x and that one, when i try to hit the cms login page, i get and error the system appears down bla bla…i should wait few minutes.
I VOTE FOR v2 XIBO…AWARD WINNER for EVERY ASPECT!!!
this issues is related to the player version… from v404.1… try using the v3 player 3.09…the 310 will give you a blank RSS FEED…also use xibo v3.3.12 instead of v4…the test editor is not friendly which i think is the reason why we cant get RSS FEED to work in v4 along with v4 players. xibo 3.3.12 CMS is very similar to that of v2.3.17 and the text editor for RSS widget is friendly…
I hope more users experience the following: When I edit the layout and publish it again, then the RSS feeds are working fine in the Windows player. But after a while the message of No data message is displayed.
I’m using version XIBO CMS version 4.1.2 on a shared hosting with the Windows client 3.0.9, as aponkye suggested, without an issue for two days. So RSS feeds are working fine until now. Anyone else using this combination without an issue?
i suggest you you go back to v3.3.12. v4 only works ok with MYSQL 5.7 up to a certain v4 versions… v4.2.0, v4.1.2, v4.1.1 all ship with docker yml configured for MYSQL 8.0 but those v4s dont work with MYSQL 8. when you trigger docker yml with mysql 4.7 for v4.2.0 you get an error saying system is down and must wait few minutes to refresh your page…as if you are in MIGRATION MODE but no! v4.1.1 will get you stuck on error telling to adjust your resolution to 1200x600 and then nothing happens… you can only down docker and start another version. from what i am seeing, not all latest v4s work at all with MYSQL 8. you dont see the VERIFY ALL BUTTON in the MODULES page too… a tool that is needed to kick start the rss incase it doesn’t load your feeds.
why not use v3.3.12 for now?.. the RSS page editor in v4 is not the traditional editor we have had in previous xibo versions. in the cms, go to modules and click on VERIFY ALL and it might work… make sure your XMR ADDRESS has the right ports you set in your docker yml
