I’m having an issue getting the priority setting to work properly in the scheduler. We have a set of recurring campaigns/layouts that run a combination of weekly and monthly, and in rare cases we’d want to display a priority message. For example, we wanted a Remembrance Day Slide to run last Friday starting at 11AM. Unfortunately, it didn’t occur and thus it just ran the normal schedule.
It seems that whenever I use the Priority box it doesn’t actually prioritize the layout. I’ve tried setting it with a slide currently in rotation, but it just plays as normal, and I’ve also tried to schedule a layout that’s not in rotation to see if that would pick it up but the same issue is occurring.
No other layouts I have scheduled have priority and the display order is set to 0 on all of them. We’re running Xibo version 1.7.9
Assuming you don’t have some really long durations on your layout and reasonable collection interval in display settings.
When you schedule a new event with priority, it should be displayed in the specified time frame over the usual scheduled layouts.
1.8 thanks to XMR and overlay layouts will make this process a lot easier/more responsive/no delay.
In current 1.7 series it should work quite well too, it could be good to do a test ie schedule layout with priority and check status screen to see if player ‘knows’ about this layout. You could also have a look in schedule.xml in player library to see if there is this priority event there.
Thanks for the reply. I’ve been attempting to troubleshoot this all morning and I believe I’ve found the issue isn’t actually with the priority, but with my time zone that I’m attempting to post in.
Referring to the below thread, is there a way to change my Local Time on an account basis? I already have my CMS timezone set to my local area but I seem to not be able to update the time zones of accounts.
I’m not sure about that, the regional settings looks ok I think.
If you lets say add a clock item to your layout, it will take your PC time, when you schedule new event it should be in your local time ie the timezone you’ve set in CMS.
As it that other topic, it would be good to see status window on your device.
We discovered the problem, the server hosting the client was in a different time zone for some reason. Now that we’ve changed the time zone, everything matches up so we can use Priority as intended.
