Player self-duplicate

hello good afternoon…

My xibo player started duplicating itself in the CMS with the same player name but then one character is deleted from the hardware key automatically, creating a new player in the CMS

xibo v4.4.1

i noticed update is also not going through as fast as before. changes don’t take effect even if i restart the player

Sorry to hear about the issue. Please share the needed information below, and I will try to replicate the issue on my end.

  • What is the version of the Xibo for Windows that you are using?
  • When you connected the display in your CMS recently, was it the first time that display connected to your CMS (first-time setup)?
  • When you connected the display to your CMS, did you manually put a hardware key on the Xibo Options app, or have you just left it as it was?
  • In the Displays section of the CMS, do the original and duplicate displays share the same ‘Last Accessed’ date and time? Do they share the same IP or MAC address?

xibo players v4.04 and v4.06….not the first time. the same players were connected CMS from xibo v3.3 and they were all fine

I suspect triggering the migration task caused this problem. i started all over with a backup version and after i triggered the migration task again i saw one plyer appeared twice. and the strange part is that, the old player key got altered byitself…example, if the hardware key is April2026-Xibo…it now becomes April2026-Xib or April202-Xibo and then the newly added player which is the duplicate, will have the original hardware key. when i try to delete the newly added, it fails unless i change the hardware key, save then i can delete

the last time, about 8 of my 20 players duplicated them selves. and that time, i remember hitting the migration task to run few times. this time i hit it once so i am lucky only 1 player duplicated itself
