Good day Everyone, I have a planned project. 10 screens, remote departments. on a manufacturing compound, there is a central office. What as been done so far. I have downloaded the open source Xibo and installed on docker linux (mint 22), I tried using the raspberry pi 4 B for the testing and pilot but it is not working. Can someone explain to me which player I need to purchase, i am using smart TV s either samsung or TCL as the display screens . I have tried the native player linux, snap did not work I think it is due to the raspberry pi 4 B been used.
We do not have a fully supported player app for Linux yet; although there is one under active development.
In terms of commercial player apps, again we do not have a Linux option at the moment. Samsung would be Xibo for Tizen, TCL would be Xibo for Android (although we have not officially tested on TCL).
Dan, should I purchase this player DSCS9X to work together with the TVs, in the event the models samsung or TCL is not supported, although they are smart TVs.
Sean.
You can check which models of Samsung are supported: Tizen list of supported monitors | Xibo Digital Signage
For TCL it might be beneficial to try the Xibo for Android player first to see if it works.
If the embedded device (system on chip) in the screen isn’t supported, you would need to purchase an external media player, yes.
Great, how do I order the DSCS9X , I am from Trinidad and Tobago .
Sean.
Hi Sean.
If you go here and click Buy Now: DSCS9X Android Media Player | Xibo Digital Signage, it will take you through and ask for your shipping address, etc.
I will say now that I do not know what shipping/import arrangements there are for Trinidad and Tobago, so if you have issues please drop the sales team a message: Contact us | Xibo Digital Signage
Good day, Dan, and how are you? I got the Xibo reader and I am in the process of configurating in, what I notice it as a trial license. My question is I am setting it self hosting , Do I still need to get a license?
Thanks,
Sean.
Yes, if you want to use an Android client for Xibo’s self-hosting, you need a license
