You should enable MySQL support for PHP.

These days there are php-mysqli and php-mysql as well as php-pdo interfaces. I believe Xibo uses PHP PDO, the php-mysql is outdated and should no longer be used.

How to install is highly dependent on your platform, you can probably find plenty of help by Googling on the subject.
