Layout designer sometimes downloads video file on imported layouts - 1.8.3

We have imported (successfully) some layouts from 1.7.9 version but when we open them in the designer it starts to download a media (video) file automatically.

That happens only on layouts that have both a video file in a region and in another region an embedded html widget that shows another html file (generic) from media library.

While trying to figure why this happens we saw that the request is the following:

http://cms.imds.gr/playlist/widget/resource/20/69.html

and on the response headers

Content-disposition	: attachment; filename="77.mp4"

which is not included in the generic file!

Our CMS version is 1.8.3 and the export was from 1.7.9 version.

Any hints on this ?

I don’t think it is because of the imported layout.

Probably has to do with embedded files!

I’m not sure how you’re embedding a file from the library. Generic File isn’t assignable to the region timeline by default as it’s not designed to be used that way.

If you go to the Modules page in your CMS, what is shown for “Assignable” on Generic File. It should be a x - ie off

I think understanding this point is the key :slight_smile: i’m not sure what you’re doing here.

Indeed it is not assignable on both versions so this is from 1.7.6 or even earlier like 1.7.3!

It hasn’t ever been assignable I afraid :cold_sweat: perhaps something was edited on the source CMS to allow it to be assigned - but honestly I do not know what would have happened in that case.

If the generic files are supposed to be used only as direct assignable files to the displays or as upgrade files then we should switch to that.

To be honest with you no one has the knowledge to edit the source of the CMS.

What we did was on the timeline to add the file directly from library. It worked like a charm!!!

How very strange!! I’m not sure if we will be able to explain that easily!

Maybe there was a bug that allowed library assignments to come from generic files :blush:

Yeap. Sometimes users (like us) make some unpredictable moves!

Anyway we will assign the generic files directly to the display and see what is going to happen!

After removing the generic file from the timeline, the video download remains!

I’ve imported that layout and I don’t get the popup for it to try and download the video in either Chrome or Firefox.

Please can you post a screenshot of your Modules configuration page as I wonder is something has been changed on there? We think you might have “Preview” enabled for the Video module. That’s off by default, so you’ll want to set it to off if it isn’t already.

And Video Preview Enabled was set that way already?

I never had enabled the preview for video files on this CMS!

i have seen the same issue on my side. xibo 1.7.9. nowadays, when i open a layout then go into a region to edit, i see file begging to download…when that region has a swf file assigned. I never use to see that before
