Issues with CMS 1.8.9

Hi, I am using Xibo CMS 1.8.9. this is running on Ubuntu 10.04 as a VM on EXSi 6.5.
All had been working fine for a few months however we have started to experience a few issues.

  • Can no longer resize regions in Options. When saving any changes nothing is applied.
  • Can not copy layouts
  • Cannot save settings, whenever I save any settings I get a page bot found error.

All of this issues are there when using the xibo_admin account.

I have tried installing a new instance on Ubuntu 16 to see and on the brand new instance I am getting the same issues.
Have tried various browsers etc.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Ubuntu 10.04 is very old and no longer supported. The version of PHP it has is too old to run Xibo 1.8.

Please consider migrating to a CMS running with Docker, as this then has the correct environment required for Xibo to run.

If you can’t or don’t want to run with Docker, then you’ll need Ubuntu 14.04 as an absolute minimum, and ideally 16.04 to run the CMS on.

Please then upgrade to 1.8.11 as there are many issues resolved between those same versions.

If you’re in any doubt, please sign up for a free Cloud CMS demo on our website, and check that you don’t face the same issues there.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your reply, I actually made a typo, it should have said Ubuntu 18.04.
Ill try 1.8.11 anyhow and see how I get on.

18.04 is fine for Docker. I’ve not tried a custom install on there though. It could well be that MySQL or PHP are too new in that case to work there.

I have now realised that the issue is not with the Xibo CMS install but with the clients using the CMS.
On some windows machines 7 and 10 we experience this behaviour in all browsers, it seems on other machines (even from the same deployment) everything works as expected.

Perhaps it’s just bad browser cache?

Failing that, any proxy or similar that might be interferring?

It was indeed a Proxy, thanks.
Really great product btw.
Nick
