Insufficient storage error

One of my displays is showing a list of errors regarding “Insufficient storage for 918.mp4” etc.

Could someone please explain whether this means there is insufficient bandwidth for a display or whether this is insufficient storage on the Android device itself?

I had a quick look in your CMS hosted with Spring Signage.

The error is regarding internal storage on the device.

There is about 1.3G left on that device in question and the file in question is about 1.36 G.

Since it is android device, with rather limited storage, if you want to display bigger videos on it, you might consider purchasing a sd card (assuming that your device supports it) and then changing the storage option to the sd card in Xibo for Android settings.

Hi Peter,

We have just plugged in both a 16GB SD card and a 16GB USB stick (separately) and we get the same thing coming up with both. Please see the attached photo.

Please could you advise what we need to do.

Could you please let me know what android version does your device has?

Hi Peter,

The system it’s running is 4.4.2

Also - could you tell us what these symbols mean please?

With R63/R101 we’ve introduced a new method of detecting SD cards.

We do have an internal ticket about it, as we did have one case so far when the sd cards wasn’t correctly detected in 4.4.2 on minix x5mini we are investigating it, as it should work with 4.4.2 onwards (API 19).

If it’s possible to upgrade the firmware on your device, you can try it, otherwise to use sd card on this device, you might need to install R62, that still use old method of detecting it.

X - downloading new content
cloud - display is out of date, but has not yet checked in with the CMS
checkmark - display is up to date

Hi Peter,

We have installed R62 and the storage seems to be working. However we are now getting a raft of errors occuring when trying to send the layout to the display “Portswood”. Please could you advise?

It will most likely need to download required files, in the meantime it may show errors, but if it will be able to download everything it needs it should return no normal layout playback.

In your case it seems to be about 10G of data, which may take awhile.

Hiya,

So the following errors don’t mean anything is wrong?

61806 2017-05-05 11:32 Prepare Image - General Error, message = Unsupported Image. Unable to decode.
61803 2017-05-05 11:32 Default Layout failed: canRun Test
61800 2017-05-05 11:32 Prepare Image - General Error, message = Unsupported Image. Unable to decode.
61797 2017-05-05 11:32 Cannot set the next Layout from the Schedule. Schedule Invalid

The information about how much data is left to download doesn’t change…surely it should be going down as it is downloaded?

I’m not sure if your device has reliable internet connection as it appears not logged in to the CMS quite often which obviously might affect the downloading process.

Regarding image error, it could be because it wasn’t downloaded correctly, if for example the connection was cut, other than that you can also have a look here - Displaying Images

In your case, it could be beneficial to make sure that this player can correctly display your default layout first before you schedule your layout with big videos, as now it will try to download all of them, again if it looses the connection during that process, it may very well cause issues.
