Clients not updating

Hi,

Just installed latest 1.7.9 version on ubuntu and windows clients on some win7 computers.

Everything seems to be working ok on the server and the clients, except, when I update the content on the server it never appears on the clients?

Changed the update interval to 1 minutes for windows display settings but no luck

Tried ‘Schedule Now’ for the displays, but nothing appears on the displays.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Interesting follow up.

I turned off the server and the windows clients still show whatever layout it loaded.

Doesn’t complain about the server missing.

When I restart the client it loads the old layout and displays it.

Tested with Android and same behaviour. Is there a problem with the clients not updating?

How did you manage to install 1.7.9 on ubuntu? can you share it. if you have built any py client even that too.

Would be good to see screenshot of status window on your device please.

Could be also good to check Displays page in CMS and see what’s the status on your player there.

Originally I installed on ubuntu 16.04 and yes I know php7 is not supported so I downgraded the dependencies to work.

Xibo gave me a check mark for all the dependencies on install so I thought I was good.

Anyhoo just to be safe I created a new server on ubuntu 14.04 with the supported dependencies.

again, all good on the server and I installed the client on a windows 7 vm.

The client gets the digital signage layout the first time and then never updates.

the android client works fine

This layout has overlapping regions, which will not work on Windows client - but will on Android client.

So that’s one thing, the:

We’ve seen couple of those lately, we’re investigating this issue.

no overlapping regions in my layout

I put a logo and a digital clock

the layout loads in windows client but after I edit the layout and move the logo a bit to the left (no overlap with the digital clock region), the client layout never updates

I would suggest you pull your windows client until you fix the bugs.

too bad as this is a decent system setup for an open source project.
