Clearing old media files on player side

I’m using Xibo Linux Player (v1.8 R6) and running into an issue where storage space on the player side keeps filling up. Each time I change the layout, the player downloads the new media files but does not remove the old ones. I’ve tried a few approaches without success, so I’d appreciate clarification on the following points:

1. Clear Cached Data – In the CMS there’s a “Clear Cached Data” checkbox. When I check it and click “Save,” nothing seems to happen — both new and old media files remain on the player. I tested this with both Linux and Windows players. Could someone explain what this option (Clear Cached Data) is actually intended to do?

2. 30-Day Deletion – On the Windows player, I noticed old media files are automatically deleted after about 30 days. On the Linux player, however, the old files never get deleted, even after years. Is this the expected behavior, e.g. this feature is not implemented on the Linux player?

3. Any suggestions – Does anyone know a reliable method to clear out unused media files on the Linux player (v1.8 R6)?

Snap Xibo Linux player was droped cca 2 years ago, now is legacy abandonware.
