All displays log with "CMS has sent an error" <?xml version

CMS Version

4.5.2 without docker on Ubuntu Server 24.04 using Apache2

All my displays are no longer displaying new content after modifying a layout or schedule. They appear as outdated in the cms and report the following errors:

CMS has sent an error: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV=“http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/” xmlns:ns1=“urn:xmds” xmlns:xsd=“http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema” xmlns:xsi=“http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance” xmlns:SOAP-ENC=“http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/” SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle=“http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/”>SOAP-ENV:Bodyns1:RegisterDisplayResponseDisplay is active and ready to start.</ns1:RegisterDisplayResponse></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope>

When heading to https://cms.url.com/xmds.php it provides the following error:

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

Heading to the network tab, there is indeed an empty line before <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

It does not appear to be a problem with the CMS, but instead with everything I’ve put into settings-custom.php.

Disalbing my custom settings did resolve the problem.
