Adding a display overwrite weirdness

Firstly some environment stuff

Xibo server 1.7.5
Multiple windows client versions

Now the weirdness
We have 11 displays happily sitting on the server behaving nicely. We have previously added and removed displays without issue.
We have gone to add a 12th display only to find that it overwrites the second last display’s details except for display name with its own.
we have tried re-installing the client on the new display removing all trace of xibo config and this hasn’t solved the issue. we’ve tried it with multiple display clients each of which does the same thing.
Any suggestions?

Change the hardware key of the new display.

As Colin says, you have non-unique hardware keys:

The Windows .net Player uses a combination of identifiers from the Windows operating system to generate a unique identifier to register your Players with the Xibo CMS. Sometimes, if the installation of Windows on the computer has been cloned or “imaged” by your IT Department or the device manufacturer, the identity generated can be the same, which means that multiple Players appear in the CMS as a single Display.
