We have a video streaming server that allows for both http and rtsp streaming of live tv content.
The xibo server is a linux VM and deploying to 15 android clients.
We are currently using version 2.0 of Xibo
The issue I’m having is being able to display a video stream. We ran this in a test environment using 2.0 we can and were able to stream to our DSDevices using a http connection to our onsite media server. Alas now we have created a server with version 2.0 installed on it we cannot display the video at all.
I can play the stream through VLC and can also play the same stream through the browser on the android device but when it is entered on xibo as a local video. The URL I’m using for it is

This is then scheduled in the layout to play always and assigned to the specific client. However with the local video it just simply does not connect. Regain can be set with text for 15 seconds then go in to a video stream but fails just coming up with black screen with Xibo in the bottom right corner

Any advice on what to do with this would be fantastic
We could never get it working in 1.8 also could it be the DS Devices (DSXJ18) with xibo running android installed just dont allow video. Its like xibo software has no player/codec to run video content.
I still don’t quite understand the question, but I see that the link you’ve provided there is for YouTube. We have a guide for how you can embed YouTube which you can find here:
Please note though that much of the content on YouTube is not licensed for displaying over a digital sign and you should make sure you have the appropriate rights/permissions for that.
We just want to stream the news onto some TV’S we believe we have done everything that needs to be done however this does not work and only displays a blank screen when running in a layout with a the local video widget Does not work with local RTSP or HTTP live feeds.
Thanks for your help we have never managed to get this to work and at this point of dont think these dsdevices along with xibo app can do it.
You ought to be able to get the YouTube above working on Android - I’ve got it working here and it seems OK.
Xibo supports RTSP over local video Widget (depending on codec), HLS using the HLS widget or indeed Embedding YouTube via the link above. The codec support is very much dependent on the device - I can’t recall whether the J18 can do that, but if you have any doubts I am sure the guys over at DSDevices would be happy to help you with that.
