Xibo compatible TV

Greetings,

We are looking to get some budget TVs possibly Android since we’ve tested it on our screens, that do support Xibo CMS. Was looking into TCL budget series such as : 55S446 , are these supported if I load it from an apk?

Hi Duka_Intelligence, welcome to the community!

I can’t say if the TCL 55S446 is a suitable model as I’m not aware of anyone testing this with the Xibo player. I had a look online but I couldn’t see what version of Androd is installed on that display, so I can’t comment on whether it supports the latest payer releases, or if it is possible to load an APK onto the display for testing.

I would suggest contacting the manufacturer to confirm the OS version and whether it can load/install APK files from a USB. If it can do that, then the only way to know if Xibo is supported is to test the Xibo player on one of those displays.

If you manage to test on one of these displays, it would be great if you could update this post with your experiences, to benefit future users, so they know if this is a viable hardware solution for the Xibo for Android player.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the swift reply. Will try and contact them to see if they’re supported. Yes that was my line of thinking where I could load/install APK from a USB key.

That sounds like a good idea, I hope that they give you the information you need.
Usually, there is a file browser app on suitable displays, which allows a user to load the player APK onto a USB, then they can use that File Browser app to locate the APK in the connected USB and select it to install it onto the display.

I hope you find this TCL display allows you to do that, then you can test to see if the performance meets your requirements.
