Xibo client on a smart android TV

Hi,
Is it possible to run the Android client app on a smart TV like the Sony KDL-43W805C or the Philips 48PFH5500/88 ?
Any feedback with this kind of installation ?
Thanks

Probably, if you can side load the APK.

According to XDA it is not possible to side load APKs as the TV does not allow unknown sources to be loaded.
There is a guide to root the TV too allow foriegn APKs, but that is unknown territory for me.

It will also most likely void any warranty and might very well be against Philips EULA ie we can’t recommend you doing that - you can try it on your own responsibility of course, but it’s not something we support or recommend.

Hi.
First time here.
I have a Phillips 4K 40 inch tv 40PUT6400 with Andorid 4.4.
Not rooted but able to enable developer mode.
Installed ES explorer then installed xibo.
All works fine even portrait mode.

Sorry dont have access to a sony tv.

Sure, it might highly depend on specific TV / manufacturer and their stance on ‘side loading’ applications - that’s the only reason I said what I said.

In any case I’m glad that it did work for you in your case.
