I’m having issues where my players are getting a black flicker once the videos end. I have tried the many fixes posted around here, and I get the issues on a few windows clients and android clients. I’m using 1.7.6
I wanted to see if anyone could get my video working on their players, so I can see if I’m having a video issue or hardware player issue. I used handbrake to convert the video below.
Also having a good Sample video for others to download might help others solve their issues.
If your device can use TextureView based video playback, then generally black flicker isn’t a problem. You will still get a black flash at the end of each layout as the layout transitions to the next. So perhaps that’s what you’re seeing?
Some devices are fast enough that the black flash isn’t seen, but it will still be there.
On Windows, it’s entirely down to system performance. The faster the hardware, the less likely you are to see that flash.

Yes, it is a short time but it happens at the end of each video. So if I have 3 short videos looping, it stands out. Also I have a white background,so I guess it stands even out more.
For my preference in this case, any flash/flicker will not work. I am trying to get 15-25sec animated clips. Videos are smaller compared to animated GIFs, but it seems like animated GIFs might be the way to go for smooth transitions.
So on your Android devices, you want to ensure you’re using TextureView (in the Display Settings profile for your devices, ensure that Use Surface View is off on the troubleshooting tab). That will prevent a black flash at the start/end of videos assuming your hardware supports that.
The flash at layout change is unavoidable as it stands I’m afraid. As you say, a white background will make it look much worse.
On Android, I’ve tried with Surface View on and off with the above video. I can see a difference, but still get a little flash at the end of the video. I also tried public storage.
On the windows machines, I tried with IE 11 as well. On my higher end machines, it is a lot less time it flashes but it is still there.
That why I was thinking it was an encoding issue and wanted to see if anyone had the same issue with my video. Also since there were others having video issue around the forums, I was thinking having a test video would be helpful for others to test when they are having video issues.
