Question about Android 8.1 support

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to purchase some Android players from an Xibo Partner and they are giving me an option to either have them built with Android 5.1 which will be out of support in 2-3 years, or to have them built with Android 8.1.

Just wondering if there has been much testing on that version of Android.

Android 5 is now 6 years old so I would suggest you get a device with Android 8.1 and test on that before committing to a larger purchase. I wouldn’t advise purchasing devices with Android 5 for a new installation.
