Issue

I use Xibo to display image files, but on a column on the left I also display a digital clock, the weather forecast and a RSS news feed. This works pretty well with Xibo for Docker 4.0.15.

But when I try to update to 4.1.0, the clock and the RSS feed disappeared, I just get a blank space where they should be. I mean they still appear on the layout on the server but are not displayed on the player. It seems something on the 4.1.0 breaks these functionalities. The weather forecast is still displayed though.
My Xibo for Docker is installed on Ubuntu Server 22.04.5 LTS, and the Player is installed on Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS. The system and all applications are up to date.
I reverted back to Xibo for Docker 4.0.15 and everything works perfectly again.
I would be glad if the next version could correct this problem, if it is possible.
Thank you!

Curious, did you go to the Module page and do a ‘Verify All’ in the top right after you upgraded to v4.1.0? You can also try running the various Maintenance tasks after you upgrade, in case there is something residual in the cache.

Hello, and thank you for your answer!
I tried again to upgrade to 4.1.0. I went to the Module page but I didn’t see “Verify all”. I saw “Reflesh the table”, I suppose that’s what you meant? I did “refresh the table” but it had no visible effect, I still have the problem.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “running the various Maintenance tasks”, could you explain?

My apologies, I am most familiar with v2 and v3 CMS versions. It would appear that they removed some sections of the Module page. I haven’t tried an in-place upgrade of v4.0 to v4.1, but you could try a few things post-upgrade:

  1. Clear the Module cache: Locate the RSS Ticker Module and select ‘Clear Cache’ from the Row Menu

  2. Manually Run maintenance and Widget tasks: Navigate to the ‘Tasks’ section and from the row menu, select Run Now for the following tasks: Daily Maintenance, Regular Maintenance, Widget Compatibility, and Widget Sync

  3. Clear cached content on the player: Locate the player in Displays, open the row menu and select Edit. From there, page over to the Advanced section and click ‘Save’ (leaving Clear Cached Data checked)

  4. Assuming 1, 2 and 3 failed, try creating a new layout and applying the RSS and Clock from there and from there test the preview and replace the existing layout scheduled to your display

I will note that the only other time that we’ve seen issues like that in the past have been when the disk used for the media library has the wrong permissions or is out of free space. I doubt this is happening to you on a test build, but it’s worth checking out if nothing else is working for you post-upgrade.
