Issue

After installing the latest Windows player Xibo doesn’t start, it displays an error. After some debugging we found that the path in the XiboClientWatchdog.exe.config is incorrect:

C:\Program Files (x86)\XiboClient\XiboClient.exe

The path must be C:\Program Files (x86)\Xibo Player\XiboClient.exe

That is the default configuration used in development, when the player starts the watchdog it provides it with the correct path.

If you want to diagnose further you could send over the error reported when it started.

I have upgraded several releases without problems. But in this release I get a Windows error prompt after restarting that C:\Program Files (x86)\XiboClient\XiboClient.exe cannot be found.
If I adapt the path in XiboClientWatchdog.exe.config then everything works fine again

I have the same issue, no matter if I upgrade an existing v2 client to v4 R403 or if I uninstall v2, restart Windows and then install from scratch with v4 R403. I get in both cases an error when I try to start the watchdog manually from Windows start menu after doing some maintenance in Windows.

Even worse, when I install from scratch, the folder is changed to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Xibo Open Source Digital Signage"

Before it was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Xibo Player" like erka wrote before.

So, to make it clear: autostart works fine, the watchdog in that case also works fine.
But after exiting the watchdog manually, doing some maintenance and then starting the watchdog manually again doesn’t work at all.

In that case watchdog starts without an error, but never starts the xibo client at all.
When I open the watchdog (“Restore”), it states:
“System.Exception: Unable to find status file in
bei XiboClientWatchdog.Watcher.Run()”

Any idea, how to solve that?

I had this problem on two of our seven players. We solved it by adapting the startup script to the new path “C:\Program Files (x86)\Xibo Open Source Digital Signage”.
