Issue
i have a media file that appears to have become orphaned. it was set to expire originally. i did a media tidy, and the media in question doesn’t appear in the media section of the CMS. however, if i try to add media with the same name, it says i can’t because it already exists. the media is also still showing as being included in dynamic playlists, and the media is still showing on the client. i need to purge this media from the CMS
Thank you for your message and sorry to hear about your issue. Please make sure that you do not have any filters set in the Media menu of your CMs that would stop the media item from being listed. Please can you also make sure the media is not retired instead of being removed from your CMS.
I would also recommend checking the library directory for your CMS on your server to see if the file is still there. Please note that it will be listed by its media ID instead of the file name. If you are unsure what the media ID is then you should be able to confirm that by going to the Displays menu in your CMS, then click the button at the end of the display that is still showing the media file and choose Manage from the menu. If you check the media section of the manage page you should see the file listed alongside its media ID.
i will say that that media filter seems to be mandatory, and it’s only got two options “retired” and “not retired”. it would be nice if that could be cleared, or at least have an “All” option
