Hi
Is there any xibo player linux beta version available?
Hello hello,
Very exciting to hear there’s a beta version.. any estimated release date ?
Hi,
Is there anything new? Our hardware is too old for Windows 11, so we get into pressure now.
We’re still making progress.
Depending on your use case an early prototype could be available in the coming months, before the end of the year. I see you’re a beta tester, so you’ll be the first to know when there is something to try out.
Good to hear about a progress. Any time estimation for non-beta testers please?
The player app will be open source, so beta releases will also be publicly available, along with the source code.
General release - v1.0 - is too early for us to say. If I had to guess, it would be first half of 2026, but that depends on how beta testing progresses.
We’re still ticking things off - currently working on packaging. I still expect a prototype for beta testers by the end of the year.
Wonderful news! Any insight you can give us on how it will be packaged? Flatpak, Snap etc
Thanks for the hard work!
or Appimage …
I hope it wont be packed in subsystems pithole again ?
Shouldn’t Electron run natively like windows *.exe at least from CLI ?
Oooo yes, Appimage would be super easy to deploy!
Thanks Xibo team, looking forward to hearing more!
We will go with snap first so that we can put it in the edge channel of the current Linux player.
This tool is from EX Snap developer:
Electron Forge has a Flatpak “maker” so it should be straightforward to add that capability in the future.
Exciting! AppImage or Flatpak would be great.
Great news! Glad to have some options. I am also in the Flatpak camp but should be able to make Snaps work too. Thanks Xibo team!
Hello,
the topic “Is a 64bit Windows Player in the works?” has been automatically closed (no reply after 91 days after last reply), but it is still relevant, reason why I take the liberty of pinning it here in the general context of “Status and plans” (maybe the initial topic could be reopened).
Thank you.
