Hey, anybody know if there will be a version of xibo for Windows 10 IoT, microsoft has a tool for converting Apks from android without having to change the codes, just a few lines of code." Project Aurora" i think.
this way we could use the raspberry with windows 10 IoT to make our signage players.
As I understand it there wouldn’t be anything for Spring Signage to do in order to make that work on Win 10 - although we haven’t tested/tried it at all.
Xibo for Android doesn’t use any of the “GSM” libraries (Google services) and should therefore run in Astoria without any modifications.
tried to install the windows version but it’s not possible.
I’ll expect anxiously for a version that works on Rpi2, if possible, of course. I’ll would use the android version like i use on Minix, but there is no android working properly on Rpi2.
You may have to wait for Astoria to get included in 10 IoT - as I said I don’t think there is anything that will need to change in the APK as we have avoided using any Google Specific libraries, or anything else that might prohibit portability.
The windows version needs the full .NET framework, which I suspect is why it doesn’t work.
As I understand it Android on RPi2 is pretty terrible at the moment and I doubt it will be getting better any time soon. I do wonder whether Astoria will have the same issues but its too early to tell at the moment.
