Imported Layout is only showing in top LH corner of screen

I’ve imported my production v1.6 setup into a test environment running v1.7.3

When I go in to “design” for any of the “imported” layouts, I get prompted to “This is an old format layout, please consider upgrading using the options menu”

That’s correct. Old format layouts need to be upgraded to use the new layout editor functionality.

I have updated some old format layouts but they (and the non-updated ones) are still showing only in the top LH corner of the screens.

Both Client and server are 1.7.3. Both are on Windows (Server v8.1 and Clients v7 & v8.1).

I can’t get any of my 1.7.x displays show anything other than a partial image of the top lh corner of the screen.

Any suggestions as to where I might start looking? Thanks

Does the Player software cover the whole screen? Or is the Player just occupying a small section of the screen as well?

Thanks for your reply.

We just populate our pages with html files that are stored on a separate (internal) web server. They display full screen on our 1.6.x production environment. I hope that clarifies things.

I wonder if any changes in standard layout between v1.6 and 1.7 have affected it. I noticed that 16 x 9 does not seem to be a standard option in 1.7.x. All of our screens display best at 1600 x 900 (yep, they’re all at least 4 or 5 years old). I had to create a new default resolution (1600x900) for our displays

I’m afraid that wasn’t really what I was getting at

What I mean is does the Player software cover the whole screen, and your content run in a small section in the corner (ie the rest of the screen is black) or does the Player software cover only the part that is showing the content (ie you can see the desktop elsewhere)

Sorry about delay in responding. I only work part-time for this employer. Using the attached image as an example, the entire screen is filled but only the top lh corner of the actual webpage shows up. It’s as if 1.7.3 thinks that the area to display is perhaps 300 x 200 (or thereabouts) whereas it should be displaying the full 1600 x 900. This does not happen (exactly the same webpage) in 1.6.x

Thanks

I think you’re missing some files.

Please go to the Modules page in the CMS and click “Verify All”, then allow the Player time to download the missing files.

The problem is resolved but I’m not sure which of the following actions has done it… information here in case others have similar problems:

  1. CMS Server (windows 8.1) had a pile of updates waiting to run, so I ran them
  2. As advised, went to Modules page for CMS and ran “Verify All”… waited a while and nothing happened
  3. Noted that the “applications” field for “Web Page” (which is our primary form of display) showed no file types. I added “htm, html”

After some time, everything righted itself and the screens now display full, as they’re meant to. It may be that step 3 had no bearing on the issue and that I should have waited longer for step 2 to take effect. Any comments on this “solution” are welcome!

Number 2 fixed it. You should revert number 3. It’s not appropriate to upload files to the library for the Webpage media type.

Thanks for this, i confirm that the Verify ALL worked as the solution.
