Image Upload: No clear instruction after clicking “Upload Media”

Description: When the user clicks ‘Upload Media’ in the Layout Editor, nothing obvious happens. A region becomes subtly highlighted, but there is no message telling the user they must click inside that region to continue. New users often think the button is broken because no dialog appears.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a layout in the Layout Editor.

  2. Click Upload Media in the toolbar.

  3. Notice a faint highlight on a region but no popup or instruction.

  4. If the user doesn’t click the highlighted region, nothing happens.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Show a small tooltip or message: “Click a region to place this media”.

  2. Or open the upload dialog immediately instead of requiring a second click.

We also see this happening. Because there is no indication of what to do, and clicking the region let’s them continue, my users feel like this is a bug and not intended.
