After studying the documentation about overlay layouts I am trying to create one in the cloud CMS, but there is no option for this. When I click new layout, there is no option to create an overlay layout. Am I blind or has this option vanished?
Hi HT-NQ,
You create an overly layout just like a regular layout using the CMS Editor, you may check here for full information. Overlay Layout is just a regualr layout which will display on top of another layout based on its scheduled date and time to show.
Once you have created your layout which you will then assign as an Overlay Layout, you can set it via CMS > Schedule section. Click the ‘Add Event’ then on the ‘Schedule Event’ window, click the dropdown for ‘Event Type’ and set it to ‘Overlay Layout’. Choose the layout you’d like as an Overlay Layout. This will now let the CMS know that whichever layout you selected in this window is going to be an Overlay Layout which will display over any layout when the schelued date and time is met.

My suggestion for the documentation is to fill in a sentence saying something like:
“After creating the layout you want to use as overlay layout create an event in the calendar using the event type ‘Overlay Layout’…”
