Hi Xibo Community,

We are currently migrating from Other signage app to Xibo for Android, and we need help replicating a specific functionality: displaying a live HDMI-IN feed on screen.

We are using the Geniatech APC390K Android device, which supports HDMI-IN at the hardware level. Geniatech provided a custom firmware that allows HDMI-IN to work properly. We tested it successfully using the OnSign TV player – it displays the HDMI input stream without issues.

Now, we would like to achieve the same thing within Xibo:

What we are trying to do:

  • Display the live HDMI-IN stream inside a layout region on Xibo for Android.
  • Use the same device.
  • Keep the HDMI-IN feed live (no interaction or recording needed).

Our questions:

  1. Does Xibo for Android support HDMI-IN natively?
  2. If not, is there a recommended workaround (custom widget, third-party launcher, etc.)?
  3. Can we point Xibo to a device path (e.g. /dev/video0) or use an intent to start the stream?
  4. Has anyone else integrated HDMI-IN with Xibo successfully?

Hi! Yes, Xibo for Android does support HDMI-IN, but only on certain devices such as Sony, Philips, and Hisense.
