How can I get the ticker to update fast (1 - 2 min)? I have tried changing settings everywhere but nothing works 
Hi,
As stated many times, player will connect to the CMS every collection interval (display settings->display profile).
Other than that, long running layouts might cause problems - Understanding media durations
And on a final note, the feed itself -> edit ticker ->update interval
Assuming you have reliable internet connection and adjusted the above settings, it should be just fine.
Both are set for 1 minute but the update is done 5-10 minutes after. That means my internet is slow, right?

If your layout is 5-10 minutes long, then that is correct… the update is only done when the media item refreshes (reloads) when either the Layout is complete or the duration is reached. The article about understanding media durations should help you.
