External Database for xibo Layouts?

Hi all

im new in XIBO - so accept if this i a dumb question:

I plan a System based on XIBO wich can display (not only but also) some data from a external Database.
This is needed because the Data from the external Database change often.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible and what kind of Database/ / Data Connection is supported ?

I want to display Text and Pictures … (pictures not from a SQL Database but Hyperlink can be found within dataset. - if SQL is Supported.

PS: i found the “DATABASE” within XIBO CMS with a CSV Import - i think this is what i search - but this need to be done automatically and i dont found if its possible to use Pictures (URL within CSV)

How often would that be? How many changes does it involve?

That can be achieved in Datasets, later displayed in Ticker or Dataset module.

Yes, in 1.7 series, you can make a column with ‘Image’ data type which will accept URLs to externally hosted images (ie. not in the CMS library)

Main problem here could be with doing it automatically, depending on number of changes etc you could also edit dataset directly in CMS.

Hi

it should diplay a kind of “product Advertising”. So i have a Database (currently mysql) in wich i have a Dataset of 80 Products with product Specs and Product Pictures (as URL.

The Database change 2-5 Times a Day so i have to use a way to import it automaticaly into XIBO CMS.
Perhapy by Time Schedule or on DB Site i can make a Scrit wich chec wheter there is a change on DB and “write” it ont XIBO (if poffible)

but Every way is open - i also can use any other SQL Based Database or Transport Format …
