I’m just setting this up for the first time and I think I have gotten my head around everything. The only issue I have is that when I update the Default Layout it’s not updating on the client. I currently have just that one layout and one client.
The display is set to Windows.
The Windows Display Settings have a download start time of midnight and end time of 23:30 so the timing window should be fine?
Under Advanced, Expire Modified Layouts and Notify current layout are ticked.
No Schedules have been created.
If I delete the library contents on the client and then reload Xibo it does fetch the updated layout.
The log for the display is showing a lot of these: “Layout Change to failed. Exception raised was: Default layout”
The layout has an RSS feed and two regions. All on a 60 second timer.
If you have any ideas where I should be looking next I’d be much appreciative.
So by default the Player collects new content once every 15 minutes unless you’ve configured something different. So you’d need to wait at most 15 minutes for the change. If it changed in 10 then it sounds to me like it’s working as intended.
However I’ve set the download window to be from 1am to 11pm. I’ve checked the display profile and it’s definitely showing that, and that display is set to that display profile.
The error I get in the client is “prepare layout failed: exception raised was: default layout”
In the layout screen for the default layout the status is ticked.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Oh, 15mins for any change? Not just to layouts. So changing those timings will also take 15mins to update. I get it now. Sorry for being impatient. It seems to be fine now - I have reduced timings to 5mins and will carry on playing.
You’ve probably got the player in a different time zone to the CMS? There was some “fuzzy” logic with the download window which as created issues for some people.
It should be fixed in 1.7.5 if you aren’t already using that?
