I just installed today and trying to get a feel for Xibo. Impressed so far. I have an old pc with 2gb ram. I installed Debian for the player. I have it working fine but every time I add an image to the Layout I have to close the player and open again to show the new image. Is this default behavior?

Have you got a very long duration on your Layout? Any changes will be collected as per the collect setting and then the current running version of the Layout would have to finish before the new one will come in.
Try setting your collection to something like 5 minutes and ensure that your Layout duration is relatively short and see if that has the desired effect.
