I took this to our dev team to take a closer look, who have created the following issue:

API: access token request fails when running in a sub-folder/alias

The issue effects v2 and v3. The POST access_token route returns a 404 and th…e HTML for the 404 page, implying that the connection is to the web entrypoint instead of the api/auth one. If using an auth_code grant, you do get the token exchange happening, login prompt and authorise choice, but the access token fails. This is odd because part of this flow does happen in the auth entrypoint, in the same place as the access token request. It __appears__ that the access token request is being routed to the web entry point.
