Hi guys,
is it possible to scroll through a multi-page pdf on a touchscreen, e.g. by pressing on the PDF page (via touchscreen or mouse)?
I know that you can set the duration per page, but in my opinion waiting for the next page is a bit annoying. So you can simply turn to the next page if you want.
Coulld you please try the below guide? Also, in your CMS you will need to enable Touch Capabilities by going to Displays, row menu, Edit, Settings tab, scroll down to enable ‘Touch Capability on the device?’
In your CMS, create a layout under the ‘Layouts’ section and click on ‘Add Layout’ (the green button located at the top right of the page) and name it descriptively.
In the layout editor, click on the ‘Toolbox’ drawer to upload your PDF file from your PC. To do so, please drag and drop the ‘Upload PDF’ widget to your canvas.
Hey.
Yeah, touch is already enabled.
I have followed the guide, but this prevents me from scrolling through the pages in the pdf via touch. It simply scrolls the pages automatically after a while.
I have replicated this issue with both XfA V4 R406 and XfW R404 on various V4 CMS versions and it seems that even enabling mouse and touch capabilities in CMS > Displays > rown menu > Settings tab does not allow scrolling for PDFs with multiple pages. I have reported this to our developers to check if this is by design and if I will need to log this as a feature request instead.
In the meantime, you can set the duration per pages so it wouldn’t take long for the pages to swtich to the next.
Tick the option for ‘Duration is per page’ under the ‘Configure Tab’.
I have confirmed with the development team that currently viewing PDF pages via mouse or touch capabilities is not yet a feature available in our Xibo Players at the moment.
I have logged this as Feature Request for consideration in future releases of the player.
Our developers are taking a look on your feature request which will enable a user to scroll though the PDF pages in XfW player. Digital Signage normally wouldn’t have any attached mouse on touch capabled screens for navigation. Perhaps adding a swipe feature in XfW for a user to be able to switch from previous to next PDF pages or vise versa via swipes on the screen would be much better?
Also, since the user would need to read the contents of the current PDF page, the player should allow the page to stay on the screen based on the duration set in CMS, then if there are no interactions/ swipes made, the player will go back to its normal behaviour of showing the next pages based on the duration set in CMS? Do you think this behaviour should be added as well?
Please let us know your thoughts and we appreciate any feedback you can share.
I’m pleased about the interest and commitment of the development and you.
Yes, swiping through the pages sounds good. that’s probably also more intuitive these days.
Yes, if the player goes back to the first page when inactive, that would of course be a great thing.
If the page also stays as long as the time is set on the page, that would also be great.
We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. I’ll be sure to communicate these to our development team so we can further provide the best user experience for our XfW player. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
