Android cms connection error

We have been running xibo for quite a while without a problem.

We have recently changed web hosts and performed a fresh install of v 1.7.4 CMS

All installed fine & I’ve imported a few layouts without an issue.

I’m now at the stage where I need to connect the displays. These are smart TV’s running android with the xibo app installed - they have been running connected to the previous URL for a while.

When I go to connect to the new URL I get the message “unable to register due to error : Null”

If I try to connect to a random URL it complains that it cant connect - but putting in the new URL it sits there for a minute or so before issuing the error.

Is there something I need to set up to add the display to the CMS ?

It would imply that player can’t reach the CMS, is there anything in the environment that could actively block/interfere with the connections between android player and CMS?

Can you reach the new CMS url in the default android browser on the android device?

Thanks for the response.
I changed the connection URL to the IP address of the server hosting xibo and it connected fine & all working.
