Alternative Android Boxes to DSCS9X

Hello everyone,

I noticed that the DSCS9X is the officially recommended Android device for Xibo, but unfortunately it’s currently out of stock on the official website. I also don’t know when it will be available again or if it can be shipped to the Middle East.

Since many commercial displays in my region come with weak processors that cause stuttering when playing content, I’m looking for alternative Android boxes that could work well with Xibo Player as a replacement for the DSCS9X.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Has anyone tried reliable alternatives that you would recommend?

The Onn GoogleTV boxes with the Xibo app sideloaded are working well for me. $50 gets you a box with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an ethernet port, and a nice RF remote. The Downloader app makes sideloading easy and the Projectivity launcher handles the “autostart xibo” part. You will need to do some more hacking if you need portrait displays (shell commands in ADB) but even that has workd well.

Whether you can get these in the middle east is another question entirely that I can’t answer.
