So Colin after the Player does it’s first change of the default layout (or after you then reboot it to force it to), does it operate per Peter and my tests?
I’m really trying to narrow down what I can do to reproduce this as we’ve already spent considerable time running options here and always come back with the same result that it works as we expect it to. I haven’t however tested a completely blank Player although I do set them up fairly frequently and I can’t remember it sitting at the splash for more than a few moments.
I notice on your first screenshot you’ve got “Player is missing dependencies on there”. I’ll go and find out what that means exactly but I’d say that’s a very likely source.
(Edit) Apparently that means that when the schedule was downloaded, there were files that are required to run the default layout missing. It will clear itself once the schedule is reassessed at the next collection (assuming the schedule has changed)
Connected it to a CMS, set a 5 minute collection interval and a default layout with interleaving set.
I then went back to the registration wizard and clicked register a second time which started the Player running. I opened the Status screen.
Initially the player downloaded some files and showed the Player is missing dependencies message. After 2 minutes of the downloads completing, the default layout loaded behind the status screen.

[/quote] Yes, works as you guys have found and what I would think is expected.
That is what I would expect to happen… it just does not work that way for us. Not the end of the world, and this is something we can live with, since it is only on the initial setup that we find this issue. It just seems strange that no one else seems to be able to produce it.
I think this thread highlights the importance of keeping one thread per issue. I don’t think the OP this post relates to has that specific scenario - as far as I can tell at least?
If people can keep a thread each unless they’re certain it’s the exact same issue it’ll mean we all get there quicker
