XMR.phar - Uncaught exception

Can anybody explain to me, what is going wrong if i start the following command:
php xmr.phar

and i get the following error:

Looks like you have some odd characters in your config.json file.

Try getting a fresh copy of the example config.json, and editing it with Notepad++ to make the changes you need.

EDIT: It seemed the Double quotes (") that were copied from one of the numerous webpages we’ve been looking through were some other character/not the right double quotes. So anyone else with this issue just check that and use an online JSON checker.

Hi Alex.

I am getting the exact same error as OP but have verified the .json is good. We are using CentOS 7 and CMS 1.8.13.
We have another server that is running the same version but XMR never worked. We built this new server to test XMR functionality and the update process.

What else could be causing this fatal error?
